To Lorene with Love

Lorene Freeman
20 July 1942 – 26 August 2011

President, ICMI Canada
October 2005 - August 2011

Lorene died on Friday, 26 August 2011 as a result of cancer.

Lorene’s commitment to the work of the Lord and her faith in Jesus carried her into many areas of service where she gave herself fully.

Lorene joined ICMI (Canada) in 1998 and traveled to Uganda in the spring of 1999 as part of a team of nurses to launch a Continuing Nursing Education program, the first to be sponsored by ICMI.

Her dedication to the work in Uganda resulted in a number of visits where her ready smile and generous heart were observed and received by all who encountered her.

Lorene was elected as Vice President of the ICMI (Canada) Board in September 2000, a position that she filled with prayerful commitment. In October of 2005 she was elected as President of ICMI (Canada) a position which she used to lead and support members of the Board.

Lorene has seen and encouraged ICMI members through many projects, including the construction of the ICMI building, including classrooms, library and offices, and the Principal's residence and guest accommodation; curriculum and program development; policy updates and serving on many committees. Always trusting in Jesus, she lifted up others that worked alongside her.

Lorene was an inspiration to those who knew her.

On the 27th of October 2011, the Board of ICMI Canada voted unanimously to establish the Lorene Freeman Memorial Scholarship for a nurse in Uganda.  Monies that have been donated in memory of Lorene will be used to establish this scholarship.
